MAGA was the brain child of Mr. Nash Fernandez, who along with Danny Jimenez, Joe Gonzales, Jess Renteria, Al Gamboa and ex L.A. Rams punter, Danny Villanueva, put their signatures on the papers of incorporation and MAGA was born.
The first chapter was incorporated in Fresno, on August 1963. This was the nucleus for chapters that are now available to serve their respective members and communities.
MAGA is the largest Hispanic golf association in the State of California today with chapters located throughout the state. MAGA is administered by an executive board which is made up of state elected officers. The local chapters run themselves and report their activities to their respective councils who , in turn, report to the executive board which meets quarterly. Elections for state officers are held on the last quarterly meeting of the year.
MAGA is actively involved in the promotion, creation of interest, practice of, and enjoyment of golf for it's members, junior members and guests. MAGA is always ready to help with scholarships to needy students, and in our communities to promote the enjoyment of golf.

Update on Bryan Sandoval - 04/01/09
Bryan has recently started playing in the Golden State tour as an amateur. Last tournament at Old Ranch he was low amateur and 2nd low overall amongst pro’s , senior pro’s and amateurs with a 69.
He also was 2nd low in San Diego a few weeks ago with a 71.
In just 3- or 4 tournaments he has earned enough points to be 3rd or 4th in points amongst the amateurs, who have played in 3 or 4 more tournament than he has.
Bryan played in the Temecula Creek Inn Tournament and shot a 66 to place first in the Amateur Division. Only two pros, with a 65 each, shot better. Great golf Bryan.
Update on Bryan Sandavol - 05/10/09
Bryan is flying up to Reno next week to play in a US Open qualifier. He was late signing up and Reno was one of the few places where he could find a spot. He will be staying with my brother and my nephew will caddy for him up there.
He played in his first event as a professional a week ago and did not do as well as he would have liked. He shot a 73 with six birdies (tough debut).
Bryan is going to finish up school next year, not play college golf, but will continue playing as a professional in the Golden State Tour. His goal is to go to Q school, try to qualify for Nationwide Tour.
In October he will be flying to New Caledonia to play in a Professional event there with his former teammates and roommates.
He decides to do all this at the most economically challenging time. We are going to try to figure this all out and may be asking for help from family and friends.
